Usain Bolt Wins Olympic Gold with 100m World Record

Usain "Lightning" Bolt, a 21-year-old Jamaican, took the Olympic 100 meter final by storm today in Beijing. After a relatively poor start and easing up in the last 20 meters to pound his chest and gaze about, Bolt crossed the line in just 9.69 seconds with his left shoelaces coming loose. The effort broke his own world record of 9.72s, set earlier this year. You have to wonder how fast this man could run if he really tried.

It’s a shame that someone that talented has so little class. That last 20m makes me glad he is not representing America.

Yeah he only meant that he was not so sure he was goin to win becos there were good competitors too, Gay and Osafa. So he was really aiming just a win. Breaking a record was a bonus for him cos he knew the competition was tight. This statement actually he was complementing other athlets competiting with him.

Hopefully in 10 years when Bolt’s no longer competing, he won’t have to watch some kid break his record by 0.01 and regret passing up the chance to lower the record even further. Of course, he thinks this form will last, or improve, and it well might — but it might not. Peak form can be fleeting. Just ask Carl Lewis about the time he almost broke the 200m WR but blew it, showboating and waving to his mother in the stands. That turned out to be his lifetime best.

    I’ll give a dime about class when he can’t run a 9.69 100, JT.

Besides, he’s not classless. His job is to entertain the people – and he does just that. He’s polite and approachable for interviews, and he respects other athletes one in the same. Just because he allows his personality to further dictate his dominance of the sprint game does not mean he has no class.

The next time ANY of you run a 9.69, talk about class.

What is class or the lack thereof? And who were more showboaters than the US track & field stars of the PAST? A few names come to mind, Carl Lewis, Maurice Green, Jon Drummond…and the list goes on? Don’t be spoilsports, he is celebrating his success and I can understand your disappointment. Jamaica is surely shining!

JT do u know what class is? Check out those athletes who depend highly on steroids in order to function. They recieve the most medals at olympics and when found out have to return them. Is that class? I don’t think so. Bolt is a classy fellow and he displays his class is so many ways. JT your just bad mind. Big up usain all the way. I’m happy he did not run for america too JT cause him would test positive for steroids. He’s a true Jamaican

For all those who question Bolts joy at accomplishing a truly great feat, shove your head up your AH. And for those who question his integrity, shove your head up you AH. Before you do you may want to read this article. It discusses American sprinters who have showboated in the past after winning a medal at a major event. It also states that Bolt refused the offer to move to America because of doping. Just check out what he said: Instead of blaming America or the American Athletes he simply said that “Athletes don’t go after Drugs the Drugs goes after them”. I believe that that’s great perspective, plus he is right. Even though Jamaica is known for somking w_ _ _, America is the place where you can get all types of Drugs.

No disrespect to Jamaica and good for you writers that you are proud of your country. I could care less about America since most of the drug-using jerks come from USA. Bolt is part of the same club as far as I am concerned – he acts liek a jerk and I have doubts that his performance is clean. They should just get rid of drug requirements and let the freak show go on in all sports. Congratualtions Bolt! ….but regardless of where you are from, Bolt, sir you are a jerk.

Doesn’t matter if you are Jamaican, American, Russian, or whatever. If you feel like you need to show up everybody else just because you are talented and have worked hard, you have no class. He’s not the only one, just the most recent.

I’m happy for Jamaica. But I’m disappointed in his behavior. He along with countless football players, basketball players, etc just teach our kids that its ok to be disrespectful of the effort of others. It’s disgusting and highly unsportsmanlike.

I’ll bet Usain Bolt will be on the next box of Wheaties. Too bad he’s such an asshole. I would rather cheer for the last place athlete. Bolt is not a legendary athlete, he’s an arrogant fool that has an ability that he obviously is too stupid to appreciate. The ability to do great things is something that should be used to contribute to society, not degrade yourself in front of the world. Anyone who thinks he is a great athlete is with out a doubt totally stupid. He is a fool that has a world record. He has a great title, but no character to go with it. The olympics are over and his name will be left behind in Beijing. I am ashamed to call myself Jamaican and have him represent my country. And bye the way, regarding the comment posted 13 up from this one. What the hell is “Jama Jama”? Learn english you moron. You make Jamaican’s look just as bad as Bolt.

The guy is a breath of fresh air, gone are the days of aggressive posturing and snarling before a race this guy just loves life and engages the crowd.
